Things I notice in businesses

  • Too much still depends on one person.

The business has grown, but a founder or senior leader is still carrying too much context, follow-through and organisational memory.

Clearer ownership, practical operating rhythms and better follow-through, so less depends on one person holding everything together.

  • Good people are working around each other.

Everyone is doing their job, but information is fragmented and important things keep disappearing between teams.

I connect decisions, people and information, so work has somewhere to live and someone is responsible for moving it.

  • The business has outgrown the way it works.

What worked at five people creates friction at twenty.

I help identify what needs more structure, what can be simplified and what no longer needs to happen.

  • Important work has no clear owner.

Everybody can see what needs fixing, but nobody has the capacity or remit to take it through.

I separate the important from the noisy, create a route through the work and give it enough ownership to move.

  • The organisation is going through change.

Growth. Restructure. Acquisition. Integration. New leadership. New workplace. New technology.

I translate change into practical actions, ownership and communication while keeping sight of how it lands for the people experiencing it.

  • A complex piece of work needs someone to join the dots.

There is something important with lots of moving parts and no obvious departmental owner.

I understand the wider context quickly, create structure around the work and stay close enough to see it through.

Selected experience

01 · Integration & change

Helping two businesses start operating together.

Following the acquisition of Chorus Creative Group by Brands at Work, my role expanded across leadership, IT, workplace systems, sustainability, communications, suppliers, office transition and employee experience.

I supported the practical integration between the two businesses, connecting information and decisions happening in different places, spotting dependencies and translating a complex transition into actions and communication people could follow.

  • Connected operational information and dependencies across both businesses.
  • Built relationships and created clarity during transition.
  • Supported sustainability alignment between the two organisations.
  • Brought structure, calm and forward thinking to change.

02 · Systems & infrastructure

Building practical systems for growing organisations.

From 2013 to 2021 I supported founders, entrepreneurs and SMEs whose businesses had grown organically and needed clearer systems, workflows and follow-through.

At Chorus that capability expanded into organisational infrastructure across Monday.com, HubSpot, recruitment, onboarding, people processes, supplier management, IT, marketing governance, reporting, project workflows and internal documentation.

I also built a bespoke HRIS-style People World in Monday.com covering employee records, onboarding, development, leave and the wider employee lifecycle.

The point was not technology for technology’s sake. It was creating practical places for information, decisions, ownership and follow-through to live.

03 · Business continuity

Keeping operational work moving through change.

During restructure and high workload at Chorus, I picked up operational work that sat between teams, kept systems usable, connected people and maintained continuity.

In 2025, the Ops Management system captured 157 completed operational tasks alongside work across culture, sustainability, systems, marketing, communications and wider operational activity.

Earlier, at Threshold during the pandemic, I worked as Executive Assistant and Producer and helped rapidly translate in-person workshops into webinars and online delivery.

An operational “shock absorber” during change.

The Client Operations Director later described my approach as calm, capable, solutions-focused, resourceful, adaptable and dependable.

04 · Complicated brains

Understanding how somebody thinks is part of understanding the work.

My early career was spent working closely with highly creative, internationally connected leaders including Hans Ulrich Obrist at Serpentine Galleries and Sir Isaac Julien and his studio.

The work moved across exhibitions, publications, interviews, travel, academia, production, curatorial work and constantly shifting priorities.

I learned that highly individual thinkers do not necessarily need to be made more operational. I first understand how they think, where they hold context, what matters to them and what kind of support helps them work at their best. Then I create enough structure around the work for priorities, people and commitments to keep moving.

Some people think in fifteen directions at once. I help the right ideas find a route into action.

At Isaac Julien Studio, a senior colleague described me as instrumental in helping exhibitions, archive, academic and curatorial areas work in a more connected and “flowy” way while managing an immensely challenging diary.

05 · Sustainability

Turning sustainability strategy into day-to-day practice.

At Chorus I helped turn sustainability from strategic ambition into operational practice, leading the development and stewardship of an ISO 20121:2024-aligned Sustainable Event Management System.

The system connected leadership, internal operations, project design and delivery, suppliers, carbon measurement, TRACE / Event Decision, reporting, policy, evidence, sustainability forums and continuous improvement.

The work brought sustainability earlier into organisational and project decisions through practical governance including roundtables, supplier standards, guidance, carbon tracking, offsetting, education and case-study governance.
